The Nitro Bar
The Nitro Bar
Newport, Rhode Island
Starting off with a coffee shop so popular it has 419.4k followers on TikTok... Located on the famous Thames Street in Newport, RI: The Nitro Bar. They actually have three locations, two in Newport alone! I say they because it's owned by Audrey Finocchiaro and Sam Lancaster, and their story is incredible. You can read more: https://thenitrocart.com/about-1. They've built a brand that people are genuinely obsessed with. However, what started as a "subpar coffee cart," as they will tell you, has now exploded into a viral sensation. As a regular visitor, I confidently say that The Nitro Bar lives up to the hype.
Now, I am not a daily coffee drinker, so from the opinion of my cold brew-obsessed boyfriend, he says their nitro cold brew is top-tier. Even though I am not caffeine-dependent, it is definitely something special. I swear it tastes like chocolate- if that's a thing. The highlight for me is the baked goods. My sweet tooth gets the best of me, and I've tried their coffee cake, banana bread, carrot cake, and sourdough toasts (not all at once), but each time, choosing at least one sweet treat. I couldn't pick my favorite if you asked, so don't ask. My first time here, I was immediately drawn to the location on the Thames, facing the water and leaving an opportunity for some ultimate people watching on this always busy street. While a small store and forewarning- there is ALWAYS a line, it goes quickly, and if you're lucky enough to snag a booth by the massive front windows- please do. My go-to is the avocado toast (with the works) and whatever seasonal drink is popping. This trip, it was the cherry vanilla latte made with simmered cherries and pure deliciousness. My baked good was a seasonal pumpkin coffee cake, which did not disappoint. Their breakfast sandwiches are divine (my boyfriend can attest to that), and I'm sure you're already pulling up their social media as we speak, but there isn't much they can't do there. Their TikTok features celebrity visits to daily coffee orders from the very relatable owner, Audrey, so my list of things to try constantly evolves. It would only be a trip to Newport with a stop at The Nitro Bar. So, with that said, grab a coffee and hit the town.
